online faculty training course The goal of this project was to develop an online training course designed to educate the faculty of Touro University on the various uses and limitations of generative AI in higher education. However, I must highlight that those developing this course were specifically mandated to not provide faculty with any kind of direction in terms of how they should or shouldn't allow their students to utilize generative AI, due to the university's policies on these aspects of generative AI use still being in development at the time. Unfortunately, clarification/guidance on student use of generative AI were what most faculty members desired from a training experience focused on this technology. In order to overcome this challenge, the team of instructional designers collaborating on this project, including myself, decided to focus on creating training content which engaged through interactivity. Essentially, the core of the training experience was designed to center around content through which faculty would gain an understanding of how to effectively use generative AI within their profession along with the chance to gain some hands-on experience doing just that. In premise, this would allow faculty to not only walk away from the experience more informed, but with content they could directly incorporate into future courses. As of my departure from Touro University, this project was still in development.
